The end of the concert season, which began the Cantus Ensemble's anniversary year, was marked by an evening of fresh music by the young generation of authors thanks to a specially designed competition.

 

The show, on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will present the latest works by six composers who had premieres of works written for the Cantus Ensemble at the concert on Monday, conducted by artistic director Berislav Šipuš.

 

The concert entitled Neither Yesterday, Nor Today – Only Tomorrow brought a variety of works to the small "Lisinski" hall, and the special feature was the performance of guest violinist Irvine Arditti, a legendary artist dedicated to contemporary music. The show features short statements from six composers: Šimun Matišić, David Batinić, Krešimir Klarić, Lukša Vučić Montana, Matko Brekalo and Tihomir Ranogajec, and will also feature their latest works – from muses reading Sappho's poetry, through the topography of dreams, disagreements in concertante style, and flashes, paradoxes of fractality and finally the last song of a Hawaiian bird.
