Meet
Cantus Ensemble
Throughout the long history of the Cantus Ensemble, soloists, conductors, festivals, and continents have changed—but not its spiritual foundation: a deep connection to the 20th and 21st centuries.
Founded as a festival ensemble of the Music Biennale Zagreb, the group quickly evolved into an independent ensemble. The name Cantus (Latin for “chant”) came naturally, and the biennale spark grew into a flame that continues to burn today. Their mission remains unchanged—contemporary music is not an end in itself, but a starting point for building new interpretations.
