Cantus Ansambl

concert cycle Cantus@Lauba

The Cantus Ensemble was founded in 2001, but it launched its own concert cycle with 6 to 4 concerts per season only in 2006. The cycle began at the Vatroslav Lisinski Small Hall, and despite this being the most professional and the most important concert venue not only in Zagreb but in Croatia, there was a need to move the contemporary music program out of the standard concert space into some new spheres and platforms where art halts and is created.
So, in the 2014/2015 season, the Cantus Ensemble moved to the incredible Lauba space.
The Lauba People and Art House and Lauba Association for Artistic Activities primarily functions as a gallery, but since it is a hybrid space open to coexistence of all aspects of art and has a wonderful acoustics that works especially well for chamber ensembles, it has become – mostly with help from the Cantus Ensemble – and is recognized as a music stage.
The Cantus Ensemble was at the Lauba for six seasons (from 2014/2015 until 2019/2020) during which it organized around 30 concerts and various off-programs such as round tables, introductory chats with artists, exhibitions, lectures etc.
