Cantus Ensemble is heading to Warsaw!

In October, we already had the pleasure of collaborating with the Polish Hashtag Ensemble, our close colleagues in the field of new music. After jointly opening our new concert season on October 13, 2025, in Zagreb – where Hashtag Ensemble performed in the Vatroslav Lisinski Small Hall – five days later, on October 18, Cantus Ensemble will present itself to the Warsaw audience with a diverse program of contemporary Croatian music under the baton of Berislav Šipuš.

Throughout 2025, Hashtag Ensemble is dedicating special attention to international collaboration and to what is happening beyond Poland’s borders, inviting ensembles that, like them, experiment, work with composers, and explore new roles of contemporary music. It is precisely in this spirit that this musical partnership was created – one that unites shared interests, creative curiosity, and openness to new sounds.

The program that Cantus Ensemble will present in Warsaw includes works by prominent Croatian composers: Ivan Josip Skender (Five Croquis for Three), Dubravko Palanović (The Story of Lost Faithworld premiere), Ante Knešaurek (On a Moment of Solitude), Sanda Majurec (I ritorni), and Berislav Šipuš (Dick Tracy and the Most Peculiar Case of All – Falling in Love).

The program is further enriched by a new piece by Polish composer Żaneta Rydzewska (Top Five), which will be premiered jointly by Cantus Ensemble and Hashtag Ensemble, symbolically rounding off this collaboration between Croatian and Polish musicians.

The project is supported by the Croatian Composers’ Society and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
