Cantus + Icarus

The meeting between Icarus Ensemble from Reggio Emilia and the Cantus Ensemble from Zagreb dates back to the early 2000s.

The opportunity is the cooperation grown between Marco Pedrazzini and Berislav Šipuš, animators of respective ensembles: they met in occasion of first Icarus presence at the Music Biennale Zagreb of 2001 with an expressly written work interpreted by Sylvano Bussotti.

Since then, several projects have brought the signature of both ensembles; from the presence at Milano Musica in 2003, to the 2004 Huddersfield festival; going on with two Mexican tours and again with different cooperation on Croatian and Italian territory, always mantaining their own identity and indipendence. In 2005 the gathered ensembles produced, jointly with the Neuevocalsolisten of Stuttgart and Fabrica of Treviso, the work East aka West by Riccardo Nova.
