Ivana Kiš, Lamentation is when grief pours out

Slowind will start with the song "Dogodki II" ("Events II"), whose author is the great contemporary of Slovenian music, Lojze Lebič. His first "Events" premiered at the Music Biennale Zagreb in 1975, and when the Slowind ensemble invited him to participate in their concert cycle in 2002, he edited the piece and eventually created a new composition. Slovenian wind instruments will continue with the work of Nina Šenk, a composer who was educated in Slovenia and Germany, and when she won the Austrian Johann Joseph Fux Award for opera last year, the jury noted the "high degree of maturity" of her technical abilities and "subtle invention texture". In 2017, the composer received the esteemed Slovenian award of the Prešeren Foundation for the period in which the composition from this program, "Obrisi in sence" was created. Then the guest quintet will play a composition by the always dear Zagreb guest Vinko Globokar, a permanently unorthodox French-Slovenian composer, but also a trombonist. In "Avguštin, dober je vin", Globokar expands the possibilities of the expression of the wind quintet. This work was premiered by Slowind at its festival in 2002.

English musicologist Niall O'Loughlin called Larisa Vrhunc's composing technique "shamelessly modernist" and her music "constantly innovative", and at the concert, on May 9 we will hear her composition "Chateauesque". Slowind and Cantus will perform this piece together and will be joined by soprano Irma Dragičević, and conducted by Berislav Šipuš. At a concert in Ljubljana in December, Cantus premiered the work "na na na na" by Ivana Kiš, and will conclude this concert, as well as the concert season in front of the Zagreb audience, with a performance of her song "Lamentation (is When the Grief Pours Out)".

Tickets at the price of 40 kuna can be purchased at the ulaznice.hr and at the box office of the Music Academy, two hours before the concert. For every purchase of 4 tickets, the 5th ticket is free. A free ticket can only be obtained at the MUZA box office (not at the online sale).
