The Cantus Ensemble and the Icarus Ensemble from Italy have collaborated for over 20 years in artistically enriching each other, and this collaboration continues with a wonderful new project. Four musicians from the Cantus Ensemble have the great honor of performing on 3 October 2019 at the prestigious Venice Biennale!

The Cantus Ensemble will perform as part of a larger assemblage in a performance of an evening section of the piece Songbook by composer Matteo Franceschini. This is a composition that, according to the author himself, links musically diversified spheres as it combines rock quartet, classical ensemble and electronics. It is the final part of the Live trilogy that strives to unite the complexity, depth and wealth of a contemporary ensemble with an infinite energy and constant search for new sounds characteristic for electronics and rock. The same program.
The program will be repeated on 5 October in the birth city of the Icarus Ensemble, Reggio Emilia.

The Venice Biennale is the largest exhibition of contemporary visual art in the world and is held biennially in the Giardini. The best known contemporary Italian composer Ivan Fedele is currently the artistic director of the Music Department of the Venice Biennale, and was a guest performer at this year’s Music Biennale Zagreb. On commission from the MBZ, Cantus Ensemble and Icarus Ensemble, Fedele wrote a new piece X-Tension II that was premiered at the MBZ by the Cantus and Icarus Ensembles.
