At the Maple Syrup concert, the Cantus Ensemble will present contemporary compositions from the distant Vancouver and the Canadian conductor Owen Underhill. Underhill is a well-known composer and conductor, artistic director of the Turning Point Ensemble and a Professor at the Simon Fraser University. He has conducted numerous orchestras and ensembles, including premiers of over 250 pieces by Canadian and international composers.
The great Canadian cellist star Ariel Barnes is the guest performer. Barnes draws the audience with his imaginative interpretations and his ability to perform equally well in different music style – from Baroque to contemporary music. The press recently dubbed this musician “a rising start” apt at creating an enchanting musical experience. Soon the Croatian audience will also have an opportunity to listen to him perform.
