Cantus Ensemble opens the new season on October 9th with a concert at Lisinski Hall
With the beginning of the new season, Cantus Ensambl, our most prominent ensemble for contemporary music, opens an exciting musical autumn filled with numerous concerts and guest appearances.
At Mirko Krstičević's author's concert on September 13th in Zagreb's &TD, the Ensemble already presented three works from the oeuvre of this prominent Split author. Then, this Thursday, October 5, they will be visiting Split, where they will open the concert season at the venue of Hrvatski Dom Split and on that occasion present the program "Split Composers' Circle" (Olja Jelaska, Mirko Krstičević, Ivan Božičević, Gordan Tudor, Frano Parać, Mirela Ivičević, Ruben Radica).
On Monday, October 9th, Cantus will perform the first concert of its own concert season in Zagreb, where it will host the Flute Ensemble of the Association for New Music from Cologne - KGNM!
The opening concert of the season on October 9th in Zagreb is a continuation of the intense international activity of the Cantus Ensemble, which at the end of the last season brought a notable guest appearance by the Turning Point ensemble from Vancouver, and now brings the Flute Ensemble of the distinguished musical association from Cologne to Zagreb.
The concert called "Ka-Ge-eN-eM + Ce-A-Ha-De-eS = NEW MUSIC!" brings individual as well as several joint performances of Cantus and KGNM members under the baton of Berislav Šipuš. CA will thus present the song Kiborg. Zusammenspiel of the renowned Croatian composer Zlatko Tanodi to mark his 70th birthday, and KGNM will perform an attractive and diverse program with works by Magdalena Buchwald, Igor C. Silva, Georg Heike, and Anna La Berge.
Joint performances include the composition Divisibility by the British composer John Hawkins, and the premiere of Echoes of alienation by the young Croatian composer David Batinić arouses special interest. On the occasion of the premiere, Batinić points out that the new work explores the theme of "alienation and isolation in the life of modern man" and invites listeners to "search for meaningful connections amid the disharmony of modern life".
Just four days after Zagreb - on October 13th - CA is holding a return visit in Cologne, where they will present works from the oeuvre of Silvio Foretić, Sanda Majurec, Berislav Šipuš, Ante Knešaurek and David Batinić. After Cologne, the Ensemble continues its mini-tour of Europe on October 15th in Bordeaux at the MÀD #4 festival, when it arrives as a guest of the ensemble Proxima Centauri (whom we remember from the last MBZ) and performs works from the works of Silvio Foretić, Helena Skljarov, Berislav Šipus, Ante Knešaureka and Sande Majurec.
The concert on October 9th in Zagreb will be held at the Small Hall of Vatroslav Lisinski starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the box office of the Lisinski hall, as well as via the internet at the ulaznice.hr.
