Cantus Ansambl

Soap Opera

In the 2014/2015 concert season, the Soap Opera project was created to the idea of the artistic director of the Cantus Ensemble, Berislav Šipuš.

Modeled on TV soap operas, the opera in episodes to the libretto by Irena Škorić and directed by Dora Ruždjak Podolski was staged at the Vatroslav Lisinski Small Hall as part of the Cantus Ensemble concert cycle.

Throughout the entire concert season, from fall to spring, the audience eagerly awaited each gripping sequel and the grand finale that resolved all the suspense resulting from some very interesting intrigues created by interactions between very strong characters.

The integral performance was held as part of the 28th Music Biennale Zagreb, on 22 April 2015, at the &td Theater.

Another interesting feature of this project was that each sequel of the Soap Opera had a different composer, so each time a project showed a different vision and musical world.

The composers who participated in the project:
Mladen Tarbuk: Overture, Episode 1
Mirela Ivičević: Episode 2
Zoran Juranić: Episode 3
Silvio Foretić: Episode 4
Gordan Tudor: Episode 5
