NEW MUSIC NETWORKING – ZEITFLUSS ENSEMBLE
In 2010 Cantus Ensemble is commencing an interesting association with Zeitfluss Ensemble for modern music from Graz. This association is a continuation of the past efforts which the Ensemble has already realized in Ljubljana (UNICOM Festival, MD7 Ensemble), Vienna (Arnold Schönberg Centre and Foundation), and Trieste (Festivale Trieste Prima) in a project designed to build up a local cultural network.
There is a desire to also include Belgrade and Sarajevo in this network of ensembles and festivals which are working hard on promotion of contemporary music and its performance in their regions.
The association with Zeitfluss Ensemble envisages the performance of five concerts. Cantus Ensemble shall present, in two concerts in Zagreb (as part of Cantus & Lisinski cycles, on 8 February and 8 March), Austrian composers (Florian Geßler, Elisabeth Harnik, Joanna Wozny), and on 22 March they will be guests of the Zeitfluss Ensemble' cycle in the Minoritensaal in Graz. The concert in Graz will feature, for the most part, pieces by Croatian composers.
Zeitfluss Ensemble will present Croatian composers Mirela Ivičević (a new piece for flute and chamber orchestra), Srđan Dedić (Ich vergesse Dich nicht), and Krešimir Seletković (No Music), first in Graz as part of their cycle, and then, on 24 May, in a guest appearance at the Lisinski Small Hall in Zagreb.
To be noted is that the two ensembles have ordered a piece from each of the partner country's composers. So, Cantus Ensemble shall premiere in Zagreb Echoes from Non Response by the Austrian composer Florian Geßler, and Zeitfluss Ensemble shall perform for the first time the new piece by Croatian composer Mirela Ivičević.
