Numerus & Alea

On Monday, February 4, 2008, at 8 p.m. in Vatroslav Lisinski Small Hall, Cantus Ensemble will hold their third concert from the «Cantus & Lisinski» cycle.
Symbolically titled Numerus & Alea, the concert will present pieces by the Italians, Giorgio Gaslini (1929.) and Luciano Berio (1925. - 2003.) and a piece for solo flute by Berislav Šipuš, the art director of Cantus Ensemble. German conductor and a composer, Johannes Kalitzke, will conduct the concert and, as special guests of the Ensemble, excellent instrumentalists will perform - Ratko Vojtek (clarinets), Saša Nestorović (saxophones), Zoran Šćekić (keyboards), Igor Lešnik (percussion), Marko Ciciliani (no-input mixer) and Berislav Šipuš (keyboards). They will perform Unbegrenzt Aus den sieben Tagen, a piece Karlheinz Stockhausen wrote and perfomed in 1968 and it has been rarely performed ever since. The Ensemble also features Giorgio Gaslini, another great jazz master and a composer whose piece Beyond the River (Di là dal fiume), written especially for Cantus Ensemble, they will premiere on this occasion. Prominent italian flute player and a contemporary music interpret Roberto Fabbriccani, to whom M. Kagel, J. Cage, A. Clementi, Gy. Kurtág, L. Nono and K. Stockhausen have dedicated their works, will surely be a big star of the concert.

With great pleasure we invite you to join us at the concert!
