Srebrenka Poljak, piano

Srebrenka Poljak received her bachelor’s degree in 1993 and in 1995 she was the youngest ever to receive a master's degree from the Zagreb Music Academy, where she studied with Zvjezdana Bašić. At various festivals and master classes (Jerusalem Music Encounters, Firenze Master class Internazionale, Orlando Festival in Holland, Wien-Prag-Budapest Sommerakademie etc.) she encountered many great artists and ensembles such as Isaac Stern, Mstislav Rostropovič, Leon Fleisher, Marian Lapšansky, Borodin quartet, Emerson string quartet, Julliard String quartet and others, who shaped her musical identity. As a soloist she performed with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Croatian Armed Forces Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Croatian Chamber Orchestra. ). As a member of the renowned Zagreb Piano Trio (Vlatka Peljhan, violin and Pavel Zajcev, cello) she toured Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy and Israel and has won prize acknowledgements in Croatia and abroad (1st prize on the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway, 2nd prize and the award for the best piano trio in Heerlen, the Netherlands, Darko Lukić award, Ivo Vuljević award, etc.). Poljak is a very successful chamber musician and she collaborates with many Croatian and foreign artists (S. Arnold, M. Bekavac, V. Dešpalj, G. Hoyos, S. Milenkovich, B. Paradžik, B. Slokar, G. Wharton etc.). She is a member of the Cantus ensemble with which she performs and records the works of contemporary composers, out of which many are world premieres. She is a jury member of the International Competition for young pianists Premio “Isola del Sole” in Grado, Italy. She is senior artistic associate at the String Department of the Zagreb Music Academy and collaborates regularly with the Zagreb Philharmonic.
