Nikša Bobetko, double bass

Nikša Bobetko (1975, Zagreb) graduated and received his masters degree at the Music Academy Zagreb with Josip Novosel. He perfected his musical skills in Berlin at the Hochschule für Musik Hans Eisler with Stefan Adelmann. He performed at numerous recitals, but also distinguished himself as a soloist with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Croatian Armed Forces Symphonic Wind Orchestra. Bobetko is the solo-double bass player of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and a member of the Cantus Ensemble. He is also engaged in performing of chamber music, mostly with cello player Mihovil Karuza or with string quartets Sebastijan and Porin.  As a soloist and with diverse chamber ensembles Bobetko performed in Croatia and abroad. He attended master classes by Fernando Grill, Božo Paradžik and Slawomir Grenda. He was awarded with Vaclav Huml Award of the Croatian Music Institute in 1997. He is currently assistant professor at the Music Academy Zagreb.
