Nikša Bobetko, double bass

Contrabassist Nikša Bobetko finished the Zagreb Academy of Music in 1997 under prof. Josip Novosel. He won his master's degree in 2000 under the same professor. Concurrently with this masters program in Zagreb, he perfected his musical skills at the Hoche Schule für Musik „Hans Eisler“ in Berlin, under prof. Stefan Adelmann. He refined his musical skills also working with Slawomir Grenda, Božo Paradžik and Fernando Grillo. Already as a student, he was a member of The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, where he still plays. He collaborated with many orchestras, domestic and foreign. He is also member of Ensemble Cantus which is known in contemporary music. During his studies, he started his concert career. As a soloist, he has so far performed at recitals and accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Croatian National TV, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Wind Orchestra of Croatian Army. He guest–appeared in Italy, Germany and Slovenia. He recorded for the Croatian National TV. Nikša Bobetko's musical profile is supplemented by his pedagogical engagement. Since 1997 he has been working at the Zagreb Academy of Music, first as an assistant lecturer, then as an assistant professor (Dozent). In 1997 the Croatian Music Institute (Musikverein) gave him the „Vaclav Huml“ award. Nikša Bobetko plays the „Gabriel Lembock“ 1851 double bass.
