Mario Šincek, trombonist and euphonist, presently one of the most active brass players of the younger generation, was born in Varaždin, where he finished music elementary and high school with prof. S. Rukljić. During his high school education he regulary participated at the Croatian Music and Dance Students Competition, winning highest awards. At the age of 17 he started his studies at the Zagreb Academy of Music, graduating four years afterwards. Along with that, he attended master courses with world-famed eminent pedagogues (Slokar, Svanberg, Mauger, Bequet,...) and continued working with some of them after the studies. While studying at the Academy, Šincek became a solo trombonist of the State Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and since 2003 he is serving as soloist of the Zagreb Philharmonic. He is active in chamber music as a member of the Tuba Quartet and Ad Gloriam Brass Ensemble and he also performs as a soloist, mostly with organ accompainment. He recorded several classical records and since 2006 he works as an assistant lecturer at the Music Academy in Zagreb.
